This is Denise and my story began a few years ago when I brought home my first Sphynx. A friend introduced me to this breed and was telling me how amazing they were and how I just had to have one. I had heard they were unlike any other cat, they were kind, loveable, funny, intelligent, and always wanted to be with you and to be loved by you. To our surprise, it was this and more. After bringing Sir Elton home the dream began of one day owning a small cattery where I could share these little bundles of healthy happy goodness.
Then one day when Mary Jo was visiting, I introduced her for the first time to my sphynx, Sir Elton. The love and magic grabbed her, she was in 100%. We knew that together we wanted to join forces and bring all this love and goodness to our friends and family. We wanted to build a cattery and move forward to enhance this breed, keeping health and temperament as our primary goal.
The expectation of Lily and Freddie Sphynx Cattery is to breed 1 or 2 litters a year. Our cattery will always be based on love of the breed and passion for advocating for future enhancements of Canadian Sphynx by focusing on the elimination of any and all health concerns.
In our excitiment to share cute little bundles of love and healthy goodness, the search began to find a Queen & Sire that was ethically bread and from a cattery that we knew had the same goals of breeding healthy, happy Sphinx cats. We had a lot of research that had to be done and an exhaustive search for the perfect pair began.
After it was discovered that in Ukraine the breeding ethics are very protected, it was decided this was a great place to find our Queen and Sire. We found a cattery where their breeding policy was 100% aligned with the humane and ethical animal protection principles that we are dedicated to following. Unfortunately, the war began. Our beautiful Queen Lily Blue was born the following September and shortly after this, and to avoid risk of bombing, the cattery was forced to relocate to Bucharest Romania.
We continued to follow this cattery which had multiple Queen's and Sire's. One day they posted a picture of this male kitten. We saw that mustache, laughed out loud and knew instantly we wanted him to be our Sire.. To our delight, all his health screening's were perfect and fate was sealed, Feddie PurrCury was to be our Sire.
We fell in love with that little baby and that mustache…..
We waited for the proper time and organized Lily and Freddy to travel from Ukraine to Bucharest and on to the USA to make our home their new home. We waited and waited and waited, for what seemed like forever, for him to be able to leave the Ukranian cattery and make the long journey to the United States of America. Luckily Lily Blue was able to fly with him and we were happy they had the companionship of one another.
The love story of Lily and Freddie has begun.
